Eulogy of Tony Twiss

Created by Pat 14 years ago
Tony Twiss was born in Runcorn on 9th June 1944 the only son of Irene Craddock and Bill Twiss. Tony’s mum was a keen tennis player and his father rode in the Isle of Man TT races. Tony went to school in Seascale Cumbria and then Rossall School in Clevelys Lancashire. His family home was in Warrington and from an early age he worked in the family business Warrington tyres. Tony had three sons Robert Michael and Richard and there are seven grandchildren. For most of his life Tony has been known to his friends and colleagues as Twissie. In his early years he was a keen even great rally car driver and he competed over many years. Tony loved all sport and was a golf enthusiast and cricket player but above all his passion was Formula 1 car racing. Over the past 15 years Tony has worked in the oil and gas industry spending much of his time working in the United States and sometime in Abu Dhabi. He loved life and he loved people and often he and Pat would spend several hours just watching the world and people go by. Tony was a great Jazz fan and he loved a good party. When I met Pat and chatted about Tony she told me of the wonderful happy time they have had together over the past eleven years. Six of those years have been spent here in Spain and Tony loved Bolnuevo and enthused about what a beautiful place they lived in. Pat and Tony have made many friends from many nations during their time together here in Spain. Andy and Pauline from Isla Plana have written Tony was a hard working and conscientious man who travelled all over the world and loved his job. He made lots of friends in the many years he was in the oil industry and will be sadly missed by all there. Tony had an unparalleled zest for life, a great sense of humour and an opinion on everything. The sun never went down on Tony’s world. The glass was always half full never half empty. He always looked on the bright side of life. Even in times of deep despair, and there were some he never burdened anyone with his troubles and always met people with a charming smile and a positive attitude to life. With Pat he found real contentment and happiness in his latter years and they made new friends here in Spain. They say you should share a life and we will time and time again but we are all sad at our friends passing.
